
Situated in North east of England Whitburn is one of the last remaining untouched historical villages along the North east coast line. Originally called Hwita Byrgen (The burial place of Hwita, a Saxon chief) it is thought that the village of Whitburn was orignially a Saxon settlement.

Lewis Carroll frequently visited Whitburn and it is thought that Whitburn village was the insparation for his book 'Alice in Wonderland'.
